Last weekend marked a significant milestone in Queensland’s endurance event calendar — the 20th anniversary of the Kokoda Challenge. Known as one of Australia's most gruelling team endurance events, the Kokoda Challenge honours the courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice of the Australian soldiers who fought along the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea during WWII.
This year, more than 800 teams took on the challenge across the 30km, 48km, and 96km courses, including over 470 school teams. These young Australians proved once again that resilience, grit, and determination are alive and well in the next generation.
At Grade A Consulting, we’re proud to support initiatives that build character, teamwork, and leadership in young people — values that align closely with our own. This year, we were especially proud to sponsor an inspiring team of young women, “Hike Like A Girl”, as they embarked on their first Kokoda Challenge.
Taking on the 30km course, the team — Maelle, Edie, and their dedicated team leader Rosie — showed incredible spirit and tenacity throughout the event. Battling through Queensland’s challenging winter terrain, they completed their hike in just 9 hours, demonstrating true perseverance and outstanding teamwork from start to finish.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Maelle and Edie for this impressive accomplishment and a heartfelt thank you to Rosie for her leadership and support along the way. Watching young people step outside their comfort zones, commit to a cause bigger than themselves, and achieve something so powerful is exactly why we choose to get involved.
From all of us at Grade A Consulting — congratulations to the entire Kokoda Challenge community. We look forward to continuing to support such impactful events in the future.
